When the NHS was set up 72 years ago (this last weekend), who would have thought about all the millions of amazing success stories that it would bring... saving lives, ground breaking treatments and being there for us all. An institution that is admired the world over.
Covid-19 has certainly put it to the test, challenging its staff and other supporting people through the toughest of times. We are all human and even having been trained and prepared for incidents where lives can be saved or lost, I don't think anything prepared the staff for the pressure and high constant demand and attention they had to give and are still giving.
As publicised through social media, I set up a light hearted campaign to raise money for the NHS. I commissioned an illustration by a very fine illustrator @KatieRubyMiller and as donations came in, the image revealed itself.
After 12 weeks, I have revealed the image in full but feel free to continue to donate. Whether a second wave occurs or not, people are still fighting for their lives for all sorts of conditions and our NHS is there for us, fighting for us through a lack of funding and other testing conditions.
This was Just a little something to say 'thank you NHS'. Donations can still be made via the Just Giving page on https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lightupforthenhs #lightupforthenhs #thankyounhs #covid19
